Studies Reveal More Emiratis Enrolled in Higher Education

New research from the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi has revealed that the number of Emirati citizens currently enrolled in higher education is continuing to increase.

Figures highlighted a 48.6 per cent increase in higher education enrolments between 2008 and last year, while the number of graduates in higher education have increased by 166.9 per cent from 2008-2009 to 10,921 graduates in 2013-2014.

Associate Professor of Sociology at Zayed University, Dr. Rima Sabban explained that with a growing and moving national population, there is strife to grow and pursue an education in order to develop and reach higher standards.

She went on to say that there is a heightened awareness among Emiratis which strongly values quality education, as a college degree is now becoming a minimum requirement in today’s dynamic and fast-paced professional world.
